So it’s been a minute since my last blog… I’ll catch you up on what I’ve been doing for the last few months…

I have been living the dream!
In July, after travelling up the East Coast of Australia to Cairns and having amazing adventures, I made the decision to head back to Sydney to look for work. A couple of my friends, Alex and Hannah, had done the same a few weeks before so I contacted them to ask if they wanted to look for a flat share together. They said yes, so while I made my way back down to Sydney, they looked at flats. After a long journey, I arrived back in Sydney early on a Sunday morning. I met Alex in Bondi to go look at a flat which we viewed and accepted that afternoon. The flat is a 10 minute walk from one of the world’s most famous beaches and about 20 minute walk to a huge shopping centre and the train station.
However, there was a minor blip before moving in. I’m not bitter but 30 months, working in health and on frontline, 30 months without catching the plague. It’s a flipping nightmare catching covid when you are staying in a hostel, there were a lot of tears, stress and anxiety. But, it wasn’t all bad, I guess. NSW Health came through and took me to an isolation facility. I had a one-bed apartment all to myself, nurses came and checked on me twice a day (did medical and welfare checks) every day and every morning a huge food package was delivered (I couldn’t taste much but it was great). 10 days feeling terrible but binging on Netflix and Disney+. During one of the check-up calls, the nurse apologised “on behalf of Australia, sorry you came all this way to finally catch covid” which I found quite funny. Thanks to NSW Health for getting me somewhere to isolate and looking after me. All good now though so happy days.

I was finally released from Plague Prison and moved straight into our flat in Bondi. I cannot even begin to explain how nice it was to finally, fully, unpack my suitcase after almost 3 months, have my own room, a kitchen without a million people cooking at once, nice(ish) bathroom and free laundry facilities. After a spot of shopping, it was nice to make things homely and mine.
So there we go… I live in Bondi!
Oh…
And I had to move to the other side of the world to get my dream job… I work at SeaLife Sydney Aquarium! I work as a Guest Experience Host meaning I get paid to walk around the aquarium, chatting to guests, answering questions, taking people of glass bottom boat rides and so much more. It’s the best job with an incredible team.
Since moving back to Sydney, I’ve done the coastal walk to Bronte so many times, chilled on the beach, checked out the lifeguards, been whale watching (fulfilled a huge bucket list item here), eaten great food, been on some great nights out, became a quiz queen, been snorkelling and had a lot of fun!
I am having an amazing time and I’ve made some great friends. This is the dream!
Thanks for reading!
