Reflection 3: What a Wonderful World

March 3rd was World Wildlife Day. The day celebrates the beautiful and varied forms of wild fauna and flora. It is also a day to raise awareness of the multitude of benefits that their conservation provides to people. March 3rd is the day the United Nations adopted CITES (the Convention on International Trade of Endangered Species of Wild Flora and Fauna) back in 1973. This day celebrating our planet’s wildlife got me thinking. We live on an incredible, powerful, beautiful planet. Planet Earth has 195 countries, 7 continents, and 70% of the planet is covered in water. How much of it have you seen? How much have you experienced?

I have been so lucky to have visited some amazing places and do some incredible things. From swimming with manta rays in The Maldives, to doing my 100th dive on the Great Barrier Reef, to swimming in waterfalls, to walking through the ruins of Ancient Egyptian tombs. There is so much more I want to do and want to see.

I encourage you, even if it’s just in your home town or country, go out and have adventures. Go and enjoy what this planet has to offer. To quote Disney’s movie Up, “Adventure is out there”.
