Summer of Fun: Jersey Seafaris

Updated: Mar 17

Jersey Seafaris run boat trips to various places around Jersey. The company started up in 2011 and are one of the best tour companies in Jersey. They have 3 boats: Harrier, Hawk II and Phoenix. The destinations of each trip are dependent on weather and tides. I have been lucky enough to go on most of the trips on offer, and this summer, I get to work with the amazing team at Seafaris!

Les Écréhous

This is probably my favourite trip with Jersey Seafaris! Located northeast of Jersey approximately halfway between Jersey and France (Carteret), Les Écréhous is a collection of small islets and 3 main islets, Maîtr’Île, La Marmotchiéthe and Lé Bliantch’Île. During the high tide, all but the 3 main islets are covered by the sea and on the lowest of low tides, all of the islands are uncovered. On the main islets, there are a number of huts you can stay in (no one lives here permanently). Les Écréhous is a RAMSAR site (an internationally important wetland site). While at Les Écréhous, you’ll get a chance to explore these enchanting islets, look for seals and dolphins, snorkel and swim in some of the clearest water, and admire the cool sandbanks (one of which is only uncovered around 15 times a year).

Les Minquiers

Les Minquiers will make you feel like you are somewhere tropical! This collection of islets are located to the south of Jersey approximately halfway to France (Saint Malo). The main island (Maîtresse Île) has a few fisherman huts and a toilet, known as the most southerly buildings in the British Isles. Les Minquiers is famous for its sandbanks which uncover at low tide. Like Les Écréhous, Les Minquiers is also a RAMSAR site. Typically, trips go to both the main island for a little exploration and to the sandbank were you can swim in the lagoon and chill on the sand until the tide comes in and begins to cover the sand again.

North Coast

See a different side to Jersey on Seafaris’ North Coast tours. Cruise around the island’s northern coves and caves, learning about the interesting history and geographical features along the way. Typically on this tour, you will visit Rozel Harbour, Devils Hole cave, secluded beaches, old forts, jagged cliffs and Jersey’s pink granite. Not to be missed!

South Coast

Departing from St Helier and dipping into the southern bays out to Corbiere Lighthouse, the south coast trip with Jersey Seafaris offers a unique insight to some of the most popular sights on the island. From castles to hidden beaches, and maybe a visit from our local bottlenose dolphin pod, this trip is fascinating.

Sark

I’ve never actually been to Sark but it’s a Seafaris team favourite! Hopefully I’ll get my chance to go sometime this summer so I can go explore the island myself. Sark is one of the smaller Channel Islands and has no cars. The main way to get around the island is by bicycle, on foot or by horse and cart. On a typical trip, you’ll have around 5-6 hours exploring this little gem.

Herm

Again, I have never been to Herm and hope that this summer, I might have the opportunity to go explore. Stunning beaches and incredible cliff paths await you. You can walk round the entire island in a day. This tiny island is located between Guernsey and Sark and is around 45 minutes boat ride from Jersey.

France

Living in Jersey, we are uniquely situated around 45 minutes to 1 hour from the French coast. Jersey Seafaris do trips for markets, lunch or dinner in Carteret or Portbail. Yes, you really can just pop over to France for lunch or dinner. When you book a trip with Jersey Seafaris, they can send you their recommendations of where to eat and what you can do (or you can find it on their website’s blog).

If you have liked this blog and what to know more or want to book a trip with the amazing Seafaris team, head to their website! I promise that going on a trip with Jersey Seafaris this summer will be fantastic!

I am very lucky and happy to be spending the Jersey summer working at Jersey Seafaris. This is dedicated to the incredible team I get to work with! You are all amazing!
